Our goal in breeding CANADIAN FULLBLOOD SIMMENTAL always has been and is as follows:
We at Kern Simmentals have based 35 years of our breeding program on these objectives/goals. Our breeding program has used Fleckvieh genetics since 1974 (History). Unlike some of our fellow breeders who have only recently caught the "Fleckvieh fever", our experience with Fleckvieh genetics (which exceeds some Fleck breeders by at least a decade or two) has taught us that even within the Fleck genetics there are both positive as well as negative traits that come with pure Fleckvieh genetics, just as there are within any breed.
Our role as genetic engineers for the Fullblood Canadian Simmental industry requires us to select the most favorable balance of traits that produce superior breeding animals that have the versatility to be adapted into any facet of the cattle industry, purebred or commercial. Unlike fellow breeders who feel the need to heavily market foreign genetics, we at Kern Simmentals believe in staying true to our beliefs - building on our OWN genetic advantages, including improved calving ease, growth, carcass quality, milk, fertility, structural soundness and temperament - to produce and market superior CANADIAN Simmental genetics. We do not claim our Simmentals to be the best in any one trait but efficient beef production requires balance, not extremes. However, also, as a SEEDSTOCK BREEDER, you have to be at the cutting edge of the industry.
It is the efficiency and the versatility of our Manta bloodline base that allows us to produce and market superior FULLBLOOD CANADIAN SIMMENTAL GENETICS.
Our motto has always been simple, "Maximum Pounds with Minimum Maintenance". The more efficient our animals are, the more profitable they are for the industry. Whether it is the fullblood breeder, purebred breeder or a commercial cow-calf man, performance, consistency and efficiency are critical to success.
We, at Kern Simmentals, have spent many years refining our genetics, adopting the latest technologies, studying performance data, analyzing markets and consulting industry experts. It is this experience we make available to the industry with our current bloodline.
